Our client is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join a successful construction business.
Reporting to the directors is to prepare tender documents and quotations for submission to customers; place orders for the supply of labour, plant and materials; prepare valuations for the work for payment and agree such valuations with clients and assist in the procurement of development opportunities. .
The ideal candidate will have several years experience in a similar position and will have achieved a professional qualification. They will be able to work methodically and to adhere to strict deadlines, be self motivated and able to communicate clearly.
Essential Knowledge and experience
Professional Qualification such as a degree in quantity surveying or property related subject
Ability to work methodically and work to tight deadlines
Ability to communicate at all levels
Self-motivation and ability to work unsupervised
Previous experience in similar role
Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations
Ability to produce resourced programmes, risk assessments and method statements.
The key responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor are:
Take off quantities for tenders
Procure development opportunities
Produce development appraisals
Prepare monthly valuation applications within a suitable time frame
Calculate costs associated with contract variations
Prepare final account ready for submission
Liaise with other staff and personnel on cost expenditure
Investigate and reconsile cost variances
Liaise with personnel and maintain good working relationships
Liaise with clients to agree specifications
Obtain agreed contract valuation dates
Ensure correct instructions are received from clients for additional works
Manage sub-contractors
Complete necessary paperwork associated with contract work
Attend project meetings
Perform duties in accordance with Company Procedures and Policies
Undertake duties that reasonable fall within the scope of the job
Carry out duties at the request of the Directors
Ensure continuous process improvement is carried out
Co-operate with higher management
Receive and execute instructions from higher management
Sustain job satisfaction, team spirit and personal fulfilment
Communicate improvements to the process to other team members to ensure continuous improvement

Salary £20,000 – £35,000 depending on experience
