5 ways to prepare your business for Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner and if you’re anything like us, you’ve been looking at your Marketing plan and have now decided what your focus will be. Regarding overall business preparation, this might still be up in the air and so we’ve put together 5 ways to prepare your business for Christmas…

Make sure you have enough staff

If you read our blog “Why you should hire Christmas Temps”, then you’ll know the benefits of what a temp can bring. It’s important to make sure you have enough staff to cover the festivities, sickness and holiday. Don’t struggle, hire a temp – hello@gbsolutions.co.uk

Be clear on your opening hours

It’s important when preparing your business for Christmas that you also prepare your customers/clients; let them know in advance what your opening hours will be, so you don’t leave anyone disappointed when they call and are met with your voicemail. A great way to make sure everyone is informed is to put your opening hours on social media and in your email signatures.

Be fair with holidays

It is difficult to please everyone, but you will need to try to be as fair as possible with your employees when allowing holiday over the festivities. If your business is open over Christmas, then it’s important to make sure that you are reasonable with holiday. If you do allow time off then a good way to do this is to ask everyone to put their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice of holiday days off on a calendar and work out from there what you can allow. This is another great reason to hire a Christmas Temp – they want to work over Christmas so can fill in if you’re short staffed.

Office checks

If you do close the office for Christmas (yay), then you need to make sure you check the office. Make sure the fridge is empty, the heating is off (or on a timer), the windows are closed, PCs are shut down, voicemail is on your phones and the office is locked.

Dispose of your Christmas tree

(Bah Humbug!) It is important not to forget that you will need to dispose of your Christmas tree. If you don’t want pine needles in your car and are unsure of how to dispose of your tree, then we have the perfect solution! Longfield Community Hospice Care are partnering with JustHelping and will collect your tree!
