Getting to know Al

What’s your name and what do you do?

Alex Caluori – Lead Recruitment Consultant at GB Solutions.

Where were you born?

I was originally born in Pimlico, London. I grew up there but decided to leave for the dizzy heights of Cheltenham where I attended University. I loved it so much up here that I just never left. I also met my wonderful Wife who persuaded me that a Cotswold life was the way forward.

What did you think you were going to be when you grew up?

I was reading my colleague Lee’s profile earlier and much like him I really did want to be a Footballer, as do most preadolescent boys I suppose. Dreams were dashed when I realised I just didn’t have what it took, perhaps now I should just set my sights on glory with the Dad’s 5-a-side team instead!!

What did you do before GB Solutions?

I was an Administrator/Sales Consultant with Kraft Foods. I left them as they were closing their Cheltenham operation and came straight to GB Solutions – I’ve never looked back!

Describe a day in the life of yourself?

If you asked me twelve months ago it was a bit different, but now I’m up around 7am to have the first cuddles with my beautiful baby girl, Isla. I then pass the reigns to Laura, my wife and head to work. Home at 5.30 usually, although we’ve got flexitime now, so sometimes I get off a bit early, catch up with my ladies which is mostly nappy changes, tea time, bath time, cuddles and finally bed! Once Isla’s down I try to catch up on some TV and often fall asleep before the end…! I am looking forward to Gomarrah starting this month, I might even try and stay awake for that!!

What was the happiest moment of your life?

Ohhhh! I can’t choose just one. There are three events that changed my life forever…

  • Isla being born
  • Laura and I getting married
  • Chelsea winning the Champions League

You can probably guess the order…!

If you could interview anyone from your life living or dead who would it be and why?

That’s a toughie but I think it would have to be my Grandad on my Dad’s side. Unfortunately, I never got to meet him. I know that he worked in the catering industry and always had plenty of stories from there!! Apparently, he was a bit of a character so I’ve got lots of questions for him!

How would you like to be remembered?

As an all-around good-egg!

What are the most important lessons you’ve learned in life?

Never give up, be resilient and don’t worry too much – everything works out in the end!

What’s the one piece of advice you’d give to a job seeker?
