We have a superb opportunity for a Head of IT to head up our client’s IT function covering two sites in Cardiff and Gloucestershire. The Head of IT will be responsible for ensuring that the IT systems, frameworks and processes support the company’s objectives as well as work efficiently and effectively. The role will also carry responsibility for some facilities issues around the IT infrastructure and office environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the IT function to ensure IT needs are met across the company
  • Effectively manage the implementation of new IT systems
  • Management of IT procurement and supplier contracts
  • Provide overall technical and strategic leadership to ensure the company has the IT systems that support the effective delivery of the company’s strategy
  • Take overall responsibility for IT risk management
  • Ensure that company has in place suitable IT and data frameworks, policies and procedures, including in the areas of data governance, data protection, business continuity and information security
  • Development and delivery of an effective IT strategy
  • Effective project management
  • Manage the IT and facilities budgets


  • Proven ability to successfully manage, motivate and develop a team to achieve results
  • Practical business ability in the area of IT management
  • Proven ability to work with and support change across a diverse workforce, including those with a limited knowledge of IT
  • Proven ability to develop a customer relationship management approach
  • Proven ability to undertake business process development and management to exploit pre-existing IT solutions
  • Proven ability to manage IT development projects
  • Excellent database and IT skills including use of SQL
  • Able to motivate and influence others, lead organization-wide change and delegate effectively to deliver outcomes
  • Excellent project management skills, able to plan strategically, deliver and monitor results, and meet challenging deadlines, with limited budgets
  • Knowledge of databases and their successful application
  • Knowledge of website development and programming
  • A passionate and committed interest in communicating with varied audiences to achieve a positive and active response
  • A desire to promote positive change and seek ongoing improvement in working practices


  • Normal full-time working week is 35 hours
  • Flexible approach to daily start and finish times in order to support you in balancing your work and home life
  • 25 days annual leave per annum, plus Bank Holidays – increases with service, to a maximum of 30 days after 10 years
