Head of Private Client – Gloucester

A leading firm in Gloucestershire are looking for a Private Client Head of Department to join them.

The role will require a legal professional who has a proven record of accomplishment in organising their own personal workload as well as motivating and leading others.
The ability to determine priorities and consistently meet deadlines. The successful candidate is likely to be 4 years+ PQE (or equivalent) and have experience of using multiple systems, collating and analysing data as well as exemplary administration skills.

The ideal candidate will need to provide advice to clients regarding Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Trusts, Probate and capacity issues including deputyship.

Specialities: Court of Protection, Deputyships. Lasting Powers of Attorney, Trusts and Wills.

Main Responsibilities:

To review department policy and client strategy
To inspire and motivate team members
Review workload and progress of the department
Attend and conduct team meetings
Attend HOD meetings
Deliver fee targets and ensure team members do so
Responsibility for unpaid costs, unbilled disbursements and review WIP
Initial consultations
Preparation of Wills, advice on Trusts, capacity, Inheritance Tax
Advising on Lasting Powers of Attorney, dealing with applications and registrations
Advising with respect to Trusts and preparation of appropriate Trust Documents
Advising and liaising with clients on contentious probate matters and deputyships
Ongoing case management
Management and development of departmental precedents
Ongoing Will bank management
Client relationship management
Mediation and Negotiation on contested matters
Networking and business development for contentious workflows
Reviewing and managing WIP and client financing in relation to ongoing matters
To achieve fees to meet monthly and year-end targets
Attend team meetings and courses where appropriate
Keep files well organised and property updated in accordance with the firm’s policies

Experienced in working in a business team environment
Confidential and discreet
Ability to maintain absolute discretion when dealing with confidential data
Able to work in a structured and timely fashion with the ability to prioritise work and meet tight deadlines
Accurate written communication skills with good attention to detail and able to evaluate and scrutinise third party input
